Popke was charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and aggravated assault with a firearm, he is being held on a $500,000 bail. When he was released from the hospital, he was placed under arrest for shooting at the deputy. He was air lifted to a hospital where he received medical treatment for the gunshot wounds the deputy was forced to inflict. Popke attempted to flee but was located by deputies a short time after he had opened fire on the deputy. They put out a press release asking anyone who saw the man to call 911. The Sheriff’s Office also asked the nearby residents to shelter in place while they worked to find Popke. People that were inside of the trailer were removed for their safety while law enforcement worked to locate the shooter. What Garcia did not know was that Popke had fled the area which led to a manhunt.
